Murray Beach House
Gig Harbor, WA
Bruce and Joyce Murray have a wonderful
family property in Wauna near Henderson Bay. The original house from the early 1900's was a family legacy, but
it was never meant for year round living. Although Bruce and Joyce loved the property, they really wanted to create
a more contemporary home, that kept that small cozy feeling.
County Zoning codes made this project an interesting challenge. The allowable setback from the water ran right
through the middle of the cabin. If we were going to expand this home, we would need to expand upland from the
setback and keep the footprint as it existed at the time. Our design adds a a second story that provides a wonderful
master suite.
We created a light filled contemporary home that will keep the Murray family legacy going for many more decades.
