Schoenberg Residence
Longbranch, WA
Scott & Kim Schoenberg had a wonderful
site on Filucy Bay on the Key Peninsula. They had camped for years on the site and got to know what it had to offer
for their lifestyle. When it came to be time to think about building a new home, they came to us for inspiration.
Our scheme takes advantage of the fairly steep hillside by placing the home in such a way that there is a direct
walk-out along the side - giving a strong connection to the land.
The home is reached by a short bridge to a gabled entryway. Steps along the side provide access to a lower terrace
that is tied to a daylight basement for future expansion.
The house form has a steep gable section wilth lower side roofs that provide an informal cabin-like feel. A stone
fireplace and stone fireplace are comfortable and homey. The interior is light and airy and focuses across the
bay to Mt. Rainier in the distance.
