COTTAGE DOWN THE LANE...

The owner of a Fox Island home originally came to Drager Architects with an idea for adding a second story. After developing several interesting schemes she realized that she really preferred to start completely from scratch. We designed a story and a half home that is the very essence of a cottage. Design inspiration came from east coast cottages that she admired. A separated writer's cottage is a miniature version of the main house and provides quiet contemplative space for her poetry.

As a guide we used the following words to define the feelings invoked by the cottage form.
Comfort... Efficiency... Simplicity... Intimacy... Coziness... Romance and Charm
